About Liz

As a former Mayor, current Council Member of Monte Sereno and lifelong Californian, it is difficult to watch what years of poor decisions and unsuccessful policies have done to our state. Our K-12 public schools are failing our children, especially our most vulnerable. We have a housing crisis that continues to grow yet our legislators double down on policies that make it worse. Our residents need to feel safe in our communities, but recent “reforms” have led to sharp rises in crime and emboldened lawless behavior. The lack of transparency and accountability in Sacramento and the divisive rhetoric we’re bombarded with today has eroded our faith in our government.

It is time we elect pragmatic, common sense representatives who hold themselves accountable. We need leaders who are fiscally responsible and dedicated to representing constituents, not just themselves.

What matters to you, matters to me.

Liz was born and raised in Los Angeles, the youngest of four children where she attended Marlborough School. She went on to graduate from UC Berkeley in 1987, with a B.A. in Political Science. While at Berkeley, Liz met her husband, Greg, and they married in 1988.

Since then, Liz has worked in advertising, been married 34 years, raised three children, has two grandchildren, she’s been room mom, team mom, den mom, realtor, philanthropist, and most recently a Better Streets Commissioner, Council Member and Mayor. All of these combined experiences have provided Liz with the opportunity to develop the insights, diplomatic skills, policy background and desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

In 2013, Liz and her family relocated to Monte Sereno for her husband’s work, where she soon became involved with the community, serving on the newly formed Better Streets Commission, and later being elected to the City Council.

As a Better Streets Commissioner, Liz worked to create the Pavement Management Program to identify on an annual basis, streets requiring major repair, with the goal of bringing all streets up to excellent condition. This has and will continue to result in significant street maintenance and taxpayer savings for Monte Sereno.

As a City Council Member, Liz has worked hard to, and succeeded in, improving services city residents, to employing best practices throughout the organization and providing greater transparency. During her term as Mayor, council successfully negotiated a contract with staff to everyone’s satisfaction that will benefit the city in the long term.

As Mayor during the pandemic, Liz worked with the City Manager to bring the latest technology to city operations to ensure Monte Sereno continued to run smoothly with no interruption of services to residents.

Liz is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys all the natural bounty our Golden State has to offer, especially skiing, SUP, running and hiking. Liz is dedicated to serving the wonderful residents of District 28 and hopes to have the privilege of representing you as your Assembly Member!

I believe in basic human rights, including a woman’s right to choose, and same-sex marriage. My son’s husband is an integral part of our family and we’re so fortunate to live in a time that their right to partnership is solid and becoming more and more accepted. I will be a strong advocate for these types of issues at the state level.
